The Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame, a prestigious event held once a decade to acknowledge outstanding achievements and innovation in the region’s wine sector, recently unveiled its latest cohort of award recipients and inducted five new luminaries in a gala celebration held on Friday, May 24.
The 2024 Clare Valley Wine Hall of Fame Gala Dinner and Award Presentation, hosted at O’Leary Walker Wines and attended by 150 esteemed guests, crowned Taylors Chief Winemaker Adam Eggins with the esteemed Winemaker Award.
Reflecting on this accolade, Eggins remarked, “Clare is an exceptional region, and it’s truly humbling to be acknowledged alongside my peers, neighbors, and colleagues with the Winemaker Award. Despite the challenges faced by the wine industry this year, the talent and dedication showcased through these awards continue to inspire.”
Several other individuals were also honored for their unwavering commitment, ingenuity, and expertise across various facets of the wine industry throughout their distinguished careers.
Alister Sandow of Blenheim Proprietors was lauded with the Viticulturist Award, while Andrew Kenny of Kenny Wines was recognized with the Rising Star Award. Warrick Duthy of Watervale Epicurean Society was celebrated as the recipient of the Regional Ambassador Award.
In addition to individual awardees, five esteemed figures were inducted into this year’s Clare Valley Hall of Fame. Among them were Peter Barry of Jim Barry Wines, Roly Birks of Wendouree, Neil Paulett of Paulett Wines, Andrew Pike of Pikes Wines, and Stephanie Toole of Mount Horrocks Wines.
Mitchell Taylor, Chair of the Clare Valley Wine & Grape Association and Managing Director of Taylors Wines, commended the awards, stating, “The Clare Valley Hall of Fame was an extraordinary evening. It provided a fitting platform to honor individuals in our region who have displayed exceptional dedication and made significant contributions in winemaking, viticulture, marketing, and service provision throughout their careers.”
