Continuing a family legacy spanning almost 70 years, jeweller David Rowe and his daughter Michelle Stoddart have inaugurated their new jewellery store, Regina Rowe Jewellers, located at 60 Union Street, Torquay. This new establishment accompanies their existing store, Conroy Couch, marking a significant investment in the local community.
While Conroy Couch will maintain its reputation for fine second-hand jewellery, Regina Rowe Jewellers aims to bring a fresh perspective to the town’s jewellery offerings. Previously, the Rowe family operated the location as a Pandora franchise store. When the franchise ended, it presented an opportunity for the Rowe family to pivot and expand their business.
“With the closure of many chain jewellers on the high street, we recognized a real gap in the market,” Michelle explained. “We’ve attended some fantastic jewellery shows and sourced beautiful collections that offer something different for our customers—something you wouldn’t typically find in a standard high street chain jeweller.”
Michelle envisions Regina Rowe as a modern, inviting, and approachable jewellery store, featuring a diverse range of pieces, from unique silver items to exquisite engagement rings. Although Regina Rowe will still carry popular Pandora favourites, Michelle hopes the store will highlight jewellery as a means of self-expression.
“We wanted to give people a variety of choices so they can truly express themselves,” Michelle shared. “Having grown up in the jewellery trade, I’ve always loved wearing jewellery. I see it as part of my outfit, a way to express my personality. Through this store, I hope others can do the same.”
The store’s name, Regina Rowe, is a heartfelt tribute to Michelle’s mother and David’s wife, Regina, who passed away from cancer in 2019. David, with over 50 years in the jewellery industry, faced the unexpected loss of his wife, after which Michelle took a more active role in the business.
“My mum was deeply involved in the business, but when she became ill, I started working closely with my dad,” Michelle recounted. “When we were designing the store, my manager Paulina and I were brainstorming names, and we thought it would be a wonderful tribute.”
Regina Rowe Jewellers not only represents a continuation of a family tradition but also embodies a new era for the Rowe family’s business, offering the community a distinctive and personal jewellery shopping experience.
