This week, BMW introduced the revamped 3 Series sedan and Touring, boasting enhanced power and design updates in line with the latest offerings from the brand. The refreshed exterior of the 3 Series showcases a revised color palette, now featuring Arctic Race Blue metallic and Vegas Red metallic. Additionally, two new BMW Individual colors, Frozen Pure Grey metallic and Frozen Portimão Blue metallic, have been added to the lineup.
While subtle at first glance, notable changes have been implemented in the renewed 3 Series. Models equipped with the M Sport package, standard on the M340i, sport 19-inch M light alloy wheels with a double-spoke design, enhancing the dynamic profile of the vehicle. Optional two-tone or Jet Black finish wheels are also available for added customization.
Internally, the renewed Series 3 boasts a suite of advanced features across both the Sedan and Touring variants. Noteworthy additions include a standard new leather steering wheel with gearbox paddles, elevating the driving experience.
Introducing the latest generation BMW iDrive with QuickSelect based on the BMW 8.5 Operating System, the renewed Series 3 offers optimized operation of ventilation and climate control functions, further enhancing user convenience. The premium character of the models is accentuated by high-quality materials and new interior finishing elements, with the optional Luxury Sensatec instrument panel featuring refined surface structure and decorative stitching in a contrasting color.
BMW designers have meticulously adjusted the trim, with the open-pore wood finish, Fineline Light, now standard on the 330i, and the M340i receiving Aluminum Rhombicle. Optional finishes in brushed aluminum and carbon fiber cater to individual preferences.
Under the hood, BMW has introduced a new 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo six-cylinder engine with a 48V mild-hybrid system for the M340i, delivering a power output of 391 hp and 539 Nm of maximum torque, representing a notable increase compared to its predecessor. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.1 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.
The 330i version retains its 2.0-liter, turbocharged, four-cylinder engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology, maintaining a power output of 259 hp and maximum torque of 400 Nm.
Plug-in hybrid versions, including the 330e Sedan and 330e Touring models, boast enhanced efficiency and extended electric range. Equipped with a four-cylinder gasoline engine and integrated electric motor, these models offer a combined power output of 292 hp and feature a new high-voltage battery with a capacity of 19.5 kWh, resulting in an electric-only range of up to 101 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle.
The electrified 3 Series introduces BMW’s first plug-in hybrid model with a new three-phase AC charging unit, capable of charging the battery from 0 to 100% in 2 hours and 15 minutes. Notably, chassis enhancements have been implemented to improve dynamic capability and comfort, including stiffer supports connecting the rear shocks to the body and revisions to the steering system for enhanced ease during daily driving.
