BMW is refreshing its flagship M3 sedan for the 2025 model year, incorporating several mid-cycle updates that include redesigned headlights, interior enhancements, and a power boost for the all-wheel-drive Competition model.
The M3 Competition xDrive sees its engine management system reconfigured, boosting its output by 20 horsepower to a robust 523 hp. Despite the power increase, the torque remains unchanged at 479 pound-feet, enabling the car to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds, matching the 2024 model’s performance.
The rear-wheel-drive variants, the M3 and M3 Competition, continue with the same power levels as before. The S58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter straight-six engine in these models delivers 473 hp and 503 hp, respectively. All three models have a top speed of 155 mph, which can be raised to 180 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package.
Transmission options vary between models: the Competition variants come with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the standard rear-wheel-drive M3 is available with a six-speed manual. Braking is handled by six-piston front and single-piston rear calipers, with an optional M Carbon ceramic brake system that reduces weight by approximately 30 pounds compared to standard discs.
Externally, the 2025 M3 sports new LED headlights and an outlined M3 badge on the trunk lid. The updated headlights integrate low and high beams into a single module, complemented by two arrow-shaped LED units for daytime running lights and turn signals. New forged M alloy 825M wheels, now available in a bright silver finish, add to the car’s refreshed look.
Inside, drivers will appreciate the redesigned three-spoke flat-bottom M leather steering wheel, available in Alcantara, which features revised spokes and a red 12-o’clock center marker. The 2025 M3 also includes BMW’s latest infotainment software, version 8.5, which simplifies the controls for the automatic climate system.
The updated 2025 M3 sedan is set to hit dealerships in July. Pricing remains consistent with the 2024 models, starting at $77,175 for the standard M3 and $81,375 for the M3 Competition, though the destination charge has increased from $995 to $1,175. The M3 Competition xDrive is now $1,000 more expensive, starting at $86,475 with the updated destination fee.
