On May 9th, LOEWE revealed a captivating jewellery collection crafted in collaboration with Lynda Benglis, an esteemed postwar American sculptor and a leading figure in contemporary art.
Debuting at the Spring/Summer 2024 women’s fashion runway in Paris, the collection comprises 20 distinct designs that blur the line between jewellery and sculpture. Benglis has artfully infused her signature motifs and techniques into each piece, drawing inspiration from her extensive artistic repertoire. These designs, initially conceptualized in her studio in Santa Fe, feature intricate elements such as knotted, draped, corrugated, and extruded forms.
From humble beginnings as sketches on paper, Benglis’s designs come to life through a fusion of unconventional materials including foil, mesh, clay, wire, and polyurethane. These materials undergo a metamorphosis to become exquisite rings, sleeve pins, brooches, earrings, pendants, and floral adornments.
Crafted with precision and care, each item in the collection is fashioned from premium materials such as 18-carat gold, sterling silver, aluminum, enamel, and crystal. This meticulous attention to detail results in pieces that seamlessly blend artistry with impeccable craftsmanship, showcasing a harmonious marriage of creativity and skill.
