Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has announced the successful completion of the initial verification of water-rescue capabilities for the independently-developed AG600 large amphibious aircraft. According to China’s leading aircraft manufacturer, the AG600 tech-demonstrator conducted the water-rescue verification in late April at the reservoir of the amphibian Zhanghe Airport in Jingmen, located in central China’s Hubei Province.
AVIC emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating that it is instrumental for the AG600 to effectively address the demands arising from the country’s emergency-rescue system construction efforts. The completion of water-rescue verification represents a substantial achievement for the AG600 aircraft family and provides crucial technological support for the development of its search-and-rescue variant, as highlighted by the developer.
The AG600 large amphibious aircraft family is a pivotal component of China’s advanced aeronautical equipment, aimed at bolstering the nation’s emergency-rescue capabilities. Specifically designed to undertake rescue missions including firefighting and maritime search and rescue, the aircraft family is engineered to navigate diverse terrains across the country.
Distinguished by its distinctive configuration, the AG600 series amphibious aircraft features an integrated upper body resembling an aircraft and a ship-bottom-shaped lower body. This unique design underscores the versatility and adaptability of the AG600, making it well-suited for a wide range of emergency-rescue operations across varied environments.
