Brisbane, Australia – The Australian Distillers Association is marking a significant milestone as it celebrates its 20-year anniversary at its annual conference, currently underway in Brisbane this week.
The conference commenced this morning with official addresses from key dignitaries, including Glenn Butcher, Queensland’s Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing, as well as Minister for Water, alongside Tim Ayres, the Federal Minister for Manufacturing and Trade.
Addressing the attendees, Holly Klintworth, President of the Australian Distillers’ Association, underscored the association’s vital role in Australia’s economy, citing its substantial $15 billion contribution. Klintworth reflected on the association’s rich history, expressing pride in its evolution over the past two decades.
“As we commemorate our 20th anniversary, we stand ready to contribute to the establishment of a robust and sustainable manufacturing base in Australia,” remarked Klintworth. “Our journey has been one of growth and resilience, and as we convene for this special conference, we not only reflect on our achievements but also set our sights on the promising future ahead.”
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the distilling industry, Klintworth emphasized the importance of solidarity and support, particularly in light of the recent economic strains and cost-of-living pressures. She highlighted the need for adaptability and innovation in navigating present challenges while seizing future opportunities.
Paul McLeay, Chief Executive of the Australian Distillers Association, lauded the remarkable progress of the spirits manufacturing sector since the association’s inception. From a mere handful of distilleries in 2004, the industry has burgeoned to encompass 700 distilleries and manufacturing plants across the country.
“With over 400 members and 100 exhibitors gathering in Brisbane, we celebrate our achievements and chart a course for our continued growth and prosperity,” remarked McLeay.
The conference, spanning today and tomorrow, serves as a platform for industry stakeholders to address current challenges and strategize for the future. As discussions unfold, stakeholders are poised to explore avenues for industry advancement and resilience.
