The Arts and Recreation Centre at Camana Bay underwent a dazzling metamorphosis on Saturday night, becoming a vibrant catwalk adorned with color and glamour as part of this year’s Cayman InStyle Fashion Week showcase, held from April 18th to 21st.
Emceed by Kiara Belen, renowned as a runner-up on ‘America’s Next Top Model’ and CEO of The Fashion Life Tour, the event spotlighted the collections of 15 local and international designers. Among them were esteemed names such as Sai Sankoh, Epta Wear, D’Marsh, Seems Africa, Adrian Alicea, Tiffany, Karen, Shameless Opinion, Bold Black Dresses, and Uzuri.
Approximately 100 models, representing a diverse spectrum of ages, races/cultures, genders, ethnicities, abilities, and dress sizes, graced the catwalk with fierce faces and striking poses, showcasing the hottest looks of the season.
The runway featured an array of fashion genres, including swimwear, resort wear, bridal apparel, streetwear, high fashion, gothic, and risqué designs. Each ensemble boasted originality, with modern, chic, eye-popping, bold, daring, and vibrant aesthetics captivating the audience.
In addition to the sartorial spectacle, the show included electrifying performances by local singers Rico Rolando and Taylor Fangman, along with a dynamic showcase by New York rapper Ian Sean, who ensured the energy remained at its peak throughout the event.
The grand finale saw models flaunting the latest collection by the show’s CEO and founder, Norma Ebanks.
Tourism Minister Kenneth Bryan, an attendee of the event, expressed a commitment to bolster support for the annual showcase. He stated, “We’re going to double down with Cayman Islands Fashion Week, and we’re going to try to give them more money so we can bring some bigger names to the Cayman Islands.”
Bryan further expressed his aspiration for a young Caymanian designer to make waves on international runways, envisioning a future where they grace the stages of London, New York, and Paris.
