Porsche has unveiled the latest iteration of its third-generation Cayenne lineup for the 2025 model year, with a focus on enhancing the Gran Turismo Sport (GTS) trim. Following a brief hiatus in the 2024 model year, the GTS variant returns with notable upgrades, positioning itself as the driver-centric performance option within the range.
As Porsche prioritized the release of its Turbo and E-Hybrid trims in the previous model year, the GTS now takes the spotlight, emphasizing a balance of handling, weight, and luxury. Serving as a nod to purity, the GTS trim, available in standard and Coupe forms, incorporates elements of Cayenne Turbo technology while maintaining its commitment to performance and refinement.
Under the hood, the GTS receives a significant power boost from its twin-turbocharged, 4.0-liter V8 engine. With 40 additional horsepower and 30 more pound-feet of torque compared to its 2023 predecessor, the GTS now boasts peak figures of 493 hp and 487 lb-ft. This places it ahead of the Cayenne S variant utilizing the same engine and just below the Cayenne S E-Hybrid in terms of power output. Power is transmitted to both axles through an eight-speed transmission, offering shorter shift times in Sport mode for enhanced performance.
Drawing inspiration from the Turbo GT Coupe, engineers have implemented front-axle pivot bearings to improve turn-in response by increasing the front wheels’ negative camber. Additionally, a water-cooling circuit borrowed from the Turbo GT aids in maintaining optimal temperatures during prolonged periods of vigorous driving. The GTS also features trim-specific tuning for the air suspension and comes standard with a torque-vectoring rear differential, with the option to equip Porsche’s new active anti-roll suspension.
Externally, the GTS distinguishes itself with the Sport Design Package as standard, featuring gloss black accents for elements like greenhouse trim, rockers, and fender garnish. Dark bronze exhaust tips replace the previous black ones, while lightweight packages are available for Coupe variants, reducing curb weight by up to 55 pounds. Tinted headlights and taillights, along with 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels, complete the exterior aesthetic.
Inside the cabin, GTS-exclusive features include suede-adjacent Race Tex upholstery paired with leather, accented by red stitching. Customers can choose from black, Slate Gray, or Carmine Red color schemes, with additional bolstering added to the sports seats for improved comfort and support.
Pricing for the standard Cayenne GTS starts at $126,985, representing a $12,000 increase over the previous model, while the Coupe variant begins at $131,495, reflecting a $14,000 rise. Orders are currently open, with deliveries expected to commence later in the year.
