BMW enthusiasts, get ready to welcome the reinvigorated BMW M2 CS next year, promising a blend of enhanced power, precision-tuned chassis, and a fiercer aesthetic.
Building on the success of its predecessor lauded for its dynamic prowess by Autocar’s road testers, the second-generation M2 CS is poised to elevate driving thrills with a host of weight-saving measures and performance-oriented upgrades.
Anticipate the new BMW M2 CS to feature lightweight alloys, a carbonfibre roof, race-inspired carbonfibre bucket seats, and luxurious Alcantara accents throughout. The exterior will boast reworked bumpers with enlarged air intakes, a more prominent rear spoiler for increased downforce, and an upgraded braking system tailored for hardcore driving experiences.
While specifics regarding power enhancements are kept under wraps, speculation suggests the M2 CS may adopt the potent ‘S58’ engine from its larger M3 and M4 siblings, potentially pushing the power output beyond the 500bhp mark, promising exhilarating on-paper performance figures.
Remaining true to its heritage, the M2 CS is expected to offer rear-wheel drive exclusively, albeit paired with the eight-speed automatic gearbox from the standard variant. Despite BMW’s commitment to maintaining existing manual models, new manual gearboxes will not be developed.
Production of the M2 CS is slated to commence in August 2025, with reports indicating a limited production run of approximately one year. Prior to its debut, BMW will introduce updates to the standard M2, including a power boost from 453bhp to 469bhp, along with subtle styling refinements such as new wheel designs and color options.
While comprehensive details are forthcoming closer to the launch, industry insiders anticipate a price hike for the refreshed M2, with estimates pegging it closer to £70,000. The range-topping M2 CS is poised to command a premium, potentially surpassing the mid-£80,000 mark, aligning with recent pricing trends observed in the updated M4.
