BMW Group has achieved a significant milestone in its electric vehicle (EV) journey with the delivery of its one-millionth battery electric vehicle (BEV). This announcement underscores the German automaker’s unwavering dedication to its EV growth strategy amid a dynamic and challenging global market landscape.
Strong Sales Performance Across Segments
During the first quarter of 2024, BMW Group recorded a commendable 1.1 percent increase in overall vehicle deliveries, totaling 594,671 units. Notably, BEV deliveries experienced a remarkable surge, witnessing a substantial 27.9 percent rise with 82,700 units sold worldwide.
Jochen Goller, a board member overseeing Customer, Brands, and Sales, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “The delivery of our one-millionth fully-electric vehicle since the launch of the BMW i3 underscores the appeal of our product portfolio.”
BEV sales showcased a balanced performance across major global regions, demonstrating the broad acceptance of BMW’s electric offerings. Particularly in Europe, deliveries surged by 5.5 percent, reaching 227,784 BMW and Mini vehicles.
Leading the Charge with Latest Electric Models
The first quarter also witnessed significant demand for BMW’s latest electric models, including the BMW i4, iX3, iX1, iX, and the luxurious i7, all of which garnered substantial customer interest. The newly introduced BMW iX2 received positive feedback from customers, reflecting BMW’s adaptability in meeting evolving customer preferences.
BMW M GmbH, renowned for its high-performance models, continues to embrace electrification, with sales in this segment increasing by 3.6 percent. Enthusiasts have shown keen interest in new electrified performance models like the i7 M70 and i5 M60, blending luxury with sustainability.
Commitment to EV Expansion
As BMW Group charts its course in the market, it remains steadfast in expanding its EV lineup. The forthcoming months will witness the launch of new models, including fully electric versions of the Mini Cooper and the Mini Aceman, catering to a diverse range of demographics.
