BMW has marked another significant milestone in its electrified journey by delivering its one-millionth fully electric vehicle (EV) in the first quarter of 2024. This achievement underscores the automaker’s commitment to advancing its electric vehicle lineup and meeting the evolving needs of customers.
Jochen Holler, a member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, highlighted the company’s dedication to BEV growth and its ability to adapt to changing market demands. “The BMW Group is continuing on its BEV growth path,” stated Holler. “With the delivery of its one-millionth fully-electric vehicle since the market launch of the BMW i3, we have reached a significant milestone that confirms the attractiveness of our product portfolio.”
Despite facing challenges in a volatile market, BMW remains steadfast in its commitment to expanding its electric vehicle offerings. The company plans to ramp up its electric vehicle lineup in 2024, with a focus on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) for the high-end premium segment. This strategic approach aligns with BMW’s goal of meeting customer preferences while driving sustainable growth.
In the first quarter of 2024, BMW delivered 82,700 fully electric vehicles worldwide, representing a remarkable 27.9% BEV growth for the company. These delivery numbers encompass BEVs across the BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce brands, demonstrating the breadth of BMW’s electric vehicle portfolio.
While BEVs continue to gain momentum, they still constitute a fraction of BMW’s total delivery numbers. In Q1 2024, the company delivered approximately 594,671 vehicles globally. However, BMW experienced notable growth in Europe during this period, with 227,784 BMW and MINI units delivered in the region, reflecting a 5.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
Looking ahead, BMW remains optimistic about the future of electric mobility and anticipates further growth in its electric vehicle segment. With its continued focus on innovation and sustainability, BMW is poised to play a leading role in shaping the future of transportation.
