Montrose Regional Airport has regrettably announced the cancellation of the highly anticipated 2024 Tribute to Aviation event, citing unforeseen global circumstances that may impede the participation of military aircraft.
The Tribute to Aviation serves as a highlight within the community, featuring an impressive display of both military and civilian aircraft. The military’s involvement has traditionally been a significant aspect of the event, providing attendees with an exclusive opportunity to witness these remarkable machines up close.
Lloyd Arnold, Montrose County Director of Aviation, expressed the difficulty of the decision, stating, “The cancellation of this year’s Tribute to Aviation was a challenging one. The uncertainties stemming from global events may impact our ability to secure the military presence integral to the event’s essence. We are mindful of not wanting to disappoint our community with a scaled-down version of this beloved event.”
While acknowledging the disappointment surrounding the cancellation for 2024, Montrose Regional Airport is already setting its sights on the future. Arnold affirmed the airport’s commitment to reviving the Tribute to Aviation in 2025, promising an even more spectacular showcase. “We are dedicated to bringing back a larger and more impressive Tribute to Aviation in 2025,” Arnold stated. “Our team is actively engaged in planning and will exert every effort to secure a diverse array of military and civilian aircraft for the forthcoming event.”
