The health center at BMW Group’s Debrecen plant has transitioned to its permanent location, commencing operations since the groundbreaking ceremony held in June 2022. Previously housed in a container building within the city center, the German automotive company has expanded its services beyond obligatory occupational health screening tests, as reported by Világgazdaság.
Spanning an impressive 700 square meters, the facility now offers primary care and emergency services in addition to a wide array of preventive programs and health advisory services tailored to BMW employees. Past screening initiatives, encompassing melanoma, lung screening, and allergy tests, have proven instrumental in detecting various health concerns promptly.
Moreover, the health center provides physiotherapy treatments for both individuals and groups, with plans to further augment its service portfolio in the future. Currently, the center boasts a team comprising three doctors, three assistants, and a dietician trainee, all dedicated to supporting the well-being of BMW employees.
Hans-Peter Kemser, President and CEO of BMW Group Factory Debrecen, emphasized the company’s commitment to ensuring the health and vitality of its workforce, highlighting the establishment of comprehensive health infrastructure across BMW centers worldwide.
The BMW Group’s expansion in Debrecen extends beyond healthcare initiatives, with plans underway for a state-of-the-art vehicle factory spanning over 400 hectares. This facility will encompass a press shop, body shop, paint shop, assembly plant, and battery module assembly.
Set to produce approximately 150,000 vehicles annually, the Debrecen plant will exclusively manufacture electric vehicles from 2025, coinciding with the arrival of the inaugural Neue Klasse model. With a workforce already exceeding 1,000 employees, BMW Group is actively attracting prospective talent through a range of benefits and incentives, including traditional perks and discounted vehicle offerings.
