Apple has recently rolled out the much-anticipated watchOS 10.4 update for eligible Apple Watches, bringing a host of new features and addressing prevalent issues. Among the highlights are the addition of new emojis, a tap-to-show full notifications feature, and an improved Apple Pay experience with Assistive Touch.
A notable fix in the update is the resolution of the “false touch” or ghost touch issue observed in the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 (review). Initially identified in February, this issue manifested as a failure to register certain inputs like taps and swipes. With the release of watchOS 10.4, Apple has officially remedied this concern, ensuring a smoother user experience.
The update specifically targets Apple Watch Series 4 (review) and newer models, bringing enhanced functionality to Apple Pay. Users can now make payments more conveniently without the need to double-tap the side button. However, to maintain security standards, authentication through a PIN code is still required.
In addition to fixing the ghost touch problem, watchOS 10.4 addresses an issue that previously hindered contact syncing to the Apple Watch. For users with relatively recent Apple Watches, installing this update is recommended to ensure a seamless and glitch-free experience.
Simultaneously, Apple has also released iOS 17.4 for iPhones, offering similar enhancements. The iOS update introduces new emojis, improves stolen device protection capabilities, and provides an enhanced battery monitoring feature for the iPhone 15 series. This feature includes details such as battery charge cycle count, manufacturing date, and activation date, offering users a more comprehensive overview of their device’s battery health.
