Luxury Yachting News, February 20, 2024 – The remarkable 70-metre Benetti motor yacht “Alfa” has recently been sold, marking a significant transaction in the world of luxury yachting. The seller was represented by Vassilis Fotilas at Fraser, while the buyer was represented by Anton Foord of Ocean Independence.
“Alfa,” with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, boasts an exterior design crafted in collaboration between Benetti and the owner. Launched in 2020, this stunning vessel received the prestigious Neptune award at the 2021 World Superyacht Awards in the Displacement Motor Yacht Between 1,000GT and 1,599GT category. Despite her accolades, she has seen limited use since her launch.
Fotilas highlighted that “Alfa” presented a rare opportunity to acquire a yacht of her pedigree, age, design, and style. Her interior, designed by Laura Pomponi, accommodates up to 12 guests in a seven-cabin configuration, featuring an elevator connecting four of the five guest decks. The design incorporates natural materials and subdued hues, creating an atmosphere of understated elegance.
The upper deck is dedicated to the owner, offering outdoor access and an interior stairway. The 120-square-metre cabin includes a walk-in his and hers wardrobe, a “breakfast corner” with an exterior lounge overlooking the touch-and-go helicopter pad, and a private office connected to the lobby. The lower deck houses the remaining six cabins, including one for staff.
An innovative beach club layout distinguishes “Alfa,” with balconies unfolding on either side instead of the traditional stern opening. This design not only provides a cross-breeze but also serves as an additional lounge area. The enclosed-stern beach club features an infinity pool on the main deck above, with an electric system allowing flexibility in depth for various uses.
Powered by a pair of 2,400hp Caterpillar C32 diesel engines, “Alfa” achieves a top speed of 17 knots. Cruising at 12 knots, the 144GT yacht boasts an impressive maximum range of 5,000 nautical miles. Having been used exclusively for private purposes, “Alfa” comes with very low engine hours, adding to her allure in the luxury yacht market.
