In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in the Asia-Pacific region, leading Australian and New Zealand yacht importer Windcraft Yachts has forged an exclusive dealership agreement with renowned Dutch yacht manufacturer Contest Yachts. The agreement, officially signed at boot Düsseldorf 2024, grants Windcraft exclusive representation rights for Contest’s premium range of blue water cruising yachts, spanning from 42 to 85 feet. Additionally, Windcraft will showcase the acclaimed Contest 52MC motor yacht.
The announcement, made on social media, follows Windcraft Managing Director Anthony Bishop’s recent visit to Düsseldorf, where he formalized the agreement with Contest Yachts CEO Arjen Conijn. Bishop expressed his delight at representing such a highly esteemed name in the yacht building industry, citing Contest Yachts’ commitment to producing high-quality semi-custom yachts.
“I am delighted that we are able to represent Contest Yachts in Australia and NZ. They are extremely passionate about building the highest quality semi-custom yachts, and their owners have nothing but praise for the team, the yard, and the yachts,” said Anthony Bishop.
Contest Yachts, a family-run yard founded in 1959 in Medemblik, has garnered a dedicated following for its beautifully crafted, fun-to-sail, and luxurious semi-custom cruising yachts. The agreement marks the third extension of the partnership between Huron County and Thumb Animal Shelter, emphasizing the commitment to providing a safe space for stray animals.
Contest Yachts CEO Arjen Conjin expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with Windcraft, stating, “We are delighted to now be working with Anthony to grow our presence in the APAC region. We have a great range of yachts, our story is strong, and Anthony’s team at Windcraft Yachts is well placed to tell it and sell it. The time is right. We are expanding.”
Contest Yachts has gained recognition for its build quality and innovation, particularly in vacuum infusion construction and securing full Lloyd’s Register certification for its size range. The partnership with Windcraft signifies Contest Yachts’ strategic move to expand into new markets in the Asia-Pacific.
Windcraft MD Anthony Bishop is confident that Contest’s range of sailing and power yachts, known for their luxury, comfort, and performance in challenging conditions, will resonate with the Australian and New Zealand markets.
“With this high-quality Dutch approach to performance blue water cruising, we see a great future in our market, which includes so many true distance-cruising sailors – and we love that these yachts are equally well set for luxurious local cruising,” concluded Bishop.
