Renowned Winnipeg jewelry designer Jillian Sheedy, whose creations have previously adorned events such as the Oscars and the Golden Globes, is set to make a stunning debut on the catwalk at New York Fashion Week‘s Fall 2024 showcase.
The news of Sheedy’s selection for the prestigious event came in December, leaving the designer in a state of disbelief that is only now beginning to dissipate as the event approaches.
In an exclusive interview with CTV News Winnipeg, Sheedy expressed her excitement, saying, “I think I have been in shock for about two months, and it’s now starting to feel real because I’m going tomorrow.”
This unique opportunity for Sheedy arose through an invitation to apply from Flying Solo, a reputable public relations company known for connecting luxury brands from across the globe.
Jillian Leigh Jewelry, Sheedy’s brainchild, will be featured on eight models during Flying Solo’s runway show at New York Fashion Week. The designer is set to showcase around 50 pieces, all part of her highly anticipated new collection.
Embracing a tradition among designers, Sheedy will personally grace the catwalk to conclude her fashion show, a prospect that fills her with immense excitement. “I’m really, really excited about that part,” she shared.
Since the launch of her jewelry line in 2018, Sheedy has experienced an incredible journey, with her creations finding their way into the swag bags of major events such as the Oscars, Golden Globes, Emmys, and the MTV Movie Awards. Reflecting on her journey, she expressed her astonishment at the unexpected opportunities that unfolded since she hand-soldered her initial necklaces and bracelets six years ago.
“This is such a whirlwind experience. I was just excited to bring my brand to life. Just to do that was enough,” Sheedy remarked, highlighting the remarkable trajectory of her career in the world of high-end jewelry design.
