Dubai, Feb 5, 2024 – The recently concluded Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show in Sharjah, held from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4, showcased the exceptional talent and innovation of young Emirati designers. The Emirates Jewellers’ Pavilion served as a hub for these emerging entrepreneurs, highlighting their collections that seamlessly merged global appeal with Emirati heritage, as reported by the Emirates News Agency.
The pavilion, a focal point for supporting small to medium-sized enterprises in the jewelry design sector, featured over 20 designers this year, including eight newcomers making their debut at the exhibition. The event drew a substantial number of visitors and gold craftsmanship enthusiasts, displaying a diverse array of jewelry items, ranging from intricate diamond pieces to stunning gold creations.
One standout at the exhibition was Emirati designer Shama Al-Falasi, whose diamond painting project and modern aesthetic gold creations, infused with traditional motifs, garnered significant attention.
Abdullah Sultan Al-Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Expo Centre Sharjah, noted a remarkable surge in Emirati entrepreneurs’ participation, with approximately 420 designers now affiliated with the platform.
Mona Al-Suwaidi, Director of the Executive Office of the SCCI’s Chairman, highlighted a 20 percent increase in male designer participation at the pavilion. In addition to the exhibition, the pavilion hosted various workshops covering topics like gemstone carving techniques, gold quality classification, and processing.
The platform also facilitated meaningful discussions between Emirati designers and representatives from Italian companies, reinforcing international collaboration within the dynamic landscape of jewelry design. The Watch and Jewellery Middle East Show continues to play a pivotal role in promoting and fostering the growth of the region’s burgeoning design talent.
