In a nod to the iconic representation of importance in Hollywood, the collaboration between Omega and Swatch has crafted 11 exclusive briefcases for their Mission to Moonshine Gold watch collection. Each briefcase, referred to as ‘suitcases’ by the Swiss watch marques, houses the complete set of 11 timepieces, all featuring an 18k Moonshine Gold seconds hand, including the beloved ‘blue moon’ watch famously associated with John Travolta’s character in Pulp Fiction.
These extraordinary briefcases, a highlight of a new project in partnership with Sotheby’s, will be auctioned on Sothebys.com from February 12th to 24th. Prior to the auction, enthusiasts can preview the collection at one of the 11 Omega boutiques situated around the globe.
Setting each briefcase apart is a distinctive coin adorned with a 3-letter aviation code, carefully chosen to represent the specific city where it is displayed. For example, the briefcase showcased at the Fifth Avenue boutique in New York boasts a coin inscribed with ‘JFK.’ Similarly, the Regent Street, London, store is anticipated to feature a coin with codes such as ‘LHR,’ ‘LCY,’ or ‘LGW,’ with ‘LTN’ being a likely contender.
Adding a touch of individuality, these aviation codes will also be engraved on the side of each watch, rendering every timepiece a unique collector’s item.
Perhaps the most commendable aspect of this endeavor is that all proceeds from the auction will be donated to Orbis International, a longstanding ally of Omega, dedicated to combating avoidable blindness and improving vision worldwide.
The Omega boutique on Regent Street invites enthusiasts to explore these exclusive Mission to Moonshine Gold briefcases up close between February 1st and 11th. For those eager to participate in the auction and support a noble cause, Sotheby’s webstore will open its virtual doors at 2 pm on February 12th. Bid with purpose and own a piece of this extraordinary collection while contributing to the global fight against avoidable blindness.
