The BMW Group has disclosed a substantial year-on-year increase of over 138 percent in the delivery of all-electric vehicles in the Chinese market, reaching a total of 99,972 units in 2023.
The burgeoning demand for new energy vehicles in China has driven a corresponding surge in the need for charging and energy supplementation infrastructure. As of the close of 2023, BMW’s expansive public charging network boasted access to over 580,000 public charging piles, strategically positioned across more than 320 cities nationwide.
In August of the same year, BMW initiated a supercharging station program, featuring high-power charging pile supports capable of delivering up to 600 kilowatts of charging power. The program resulted in the establishment of 50 such stations across 17 key first and second-tier cities in China by the end of 2023.
The German automaker’s commitment to bolstering charging infrastructure aligns with the remarkable growth in all-electric vehicle sales. The surge in deliveries has contributed significantly to BMW’s overall performance in the Chinese automotive market, culminating in the delivery of more than 820,000 BMW and MINI vehicles in 2023. This milestone underscores BMW’s commitment to meeting the evolving preferences of Chinese consumers and fostering the adoption of sustainable mobility solutions.
