Unlike the Paris Fashion Week schedule, Ludovic de Saint Sernin will hold his first show in New York this February, aiming to strengthen ties with the U.S. market. The designer will show his Fall/Winter 2024 collection on February 11 at the Starrett-Lehigh Building, a designated venue for New York Fashion Week.
Notably, Ludovic’s designs drew heavy inspiration from New York’s S&M scene, particularly through the lens of famed photographer Robert Mapplethorpe in the 1970s and 1980s.
Ludovic de Saint Sernin expressed his excitement: “Words cannot express how excited I am to bring LdSS to New York City. It has been a center of inspiration as it serves as a key site in the history of contemporary queer culture and today The legacy of some defining art movements, but also because of the incredible community that the city has built around the brand.”
He added: “It’s so touching to see how connected we are in what we do. Through this show, I hope to express our appreciation and admiration for New York and the people who make it what it is.”
North America is the brand’s largest market, accounting for 32% of its total revenue, according to WWD, and the temporary move to New York Fashion Week is aimed at strengthening Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s presence in the U.S. market.
Steven Kolb, CEO of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, welcomed the move, saying: “New York Fashion Week is a powerful stage with international influence and a platform for global brands to connect with the U.S. market. destination.
