Apple’s (AAPL.O) customer service team was reportedly informed in a company memo this week that it will no longer replace out-of-warranty models starting with the Apple Watch Series 6.
The iPhone maker said on Monday it would suspend sales of its Series 9 and Ultra 2 smartwatches in the United States starting this week due to a patent dispute over technology that powers blood oxygen features. Both models are currently not available on Apple’s US website.
If a customer’s screen breaks, for example, they won’t be able to get Apple to fix the problem, the report said, adding that the company will still offer help that can be done through software, such as reinstalling the operating system.
Company representatives have reportedly been told to notify affected customers and they will be contacted when hardware replacement is once again allowed.
Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
