A new award-winning Australian spiced rum from the Sunshine State, Pacific Drifter, has hit the Australian market.
The rum is made from locally sourced Queensland molasses, which is distilled and then infused with cinnamon pods, Madagascan vanilla and citrus peel. The distillery team set out to create a year-round rum that would suit the sunny Queensland environment.
Launched in August this year, Pacific Drifter has already won the Spiced Rum/Cane Spirit Trophy at the 2023 Australian Rum Awards.
Chris Illman, Pacific Drifter Head of Sales & Marketing, said of the rum’s success.
“We are absolutely thrilled for Pacific Drifter to receive such a prestigious trophy in its first year of production. This award is a testament to our unwavering commitment to creating a product that embodies the essence of Queensland’s cane fields, while pioneering sustainable practices. To win this award amongst established industry giants is an honor beyond measure and a testament to the dedication of our team,” he said.
Pacific Drifter also has a strong commitment to sustainability, with initiatives such as creating label stock from sugar cane waste and sourcing molasses locally. Both cane pulp and molasses are byproducts of the sugar manufacturing process, so utilizing these products in the production of Pacific Drifter rum reduces waste throughout the supply chain.
Pacific Drifter is 37 percent ABV and retails for $60 rrp.
