Heering Cherry Liqueur is looking for the best Christmas-inspired cocktail as entries open again for the International Cherry Christmas Cocktail Competition.
Professional bartenders and home cocktail enthusiasts are invited to showcase their creativity for a chance to win €1000 as the judges look for the most delicious yet easy-to-repeat recipes.
Established in 1818, the rich and fruity Heering Cherry Liqueur is widely associated with the festive season and this year’s competition challenges entrants to create a delicious cherry liqueur cocktail that can be easily recreated at home and in bars around the world.
To enter, you must submit your cocktail recipe here by January 1, 2024, along with a photo of your finished cocktail, which may include a bottle of Heering Cherry Liqueur.
Heering specifies that the cocktail must be easy to make, using only readily available ingredients, without the need for pre-combining ingredients, and must contain at least 15ml of Heering Cherry Liqueur.
It is encouraged to use no more than seven ingredients, with a maximum of nine allowed, including fruit juices, syrups, drops or dashes.
The competition is open to residents of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Thailand, the United Kingdom and the United States. Cash prizes of €1000 will be awarded to two bartender winners and two home cocktail enthusiast winners, with a runner-up in each category receiving €500.
The Cherry Christmas Cocktail Competition will be judged by Simon Difford of Difford’s Guide, Global Brand Ambassador Max de Smit, Arno van Eijmeren of Barrelproof Company and Yolanda Báez of Darling Rooftop Bar. Points are awarded for taste (40 percent), name (25 percent), ease of replication (25 percent) and broad appeal/potential to become a contemporary classic (10 percent).
