At Art Basel Miami Beach, Louis Vuitton (PARIS:MC.PA +0.76%) will present a selection of handbags designed in collaboration with Pritzker Prize-winning Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry.
Organized around four themes – Architecture and Form, Material Exploration, Animals and Gehry’s Twisted Box creation for “Celebrating Monogram” – the stand will be the birthplace of the Louis Vuitton x Frank Gehry limited-edition handbag collection. The line will include designs based on the brand’s classic Capucines silhouette, the Twisted Box Trunk and a Bear With Us Clutch (inspired by Gehry’s 2014 sculpture Bear With Us).
The collection aims to fuse the artistic codes of both parties, with a playful approach to craftsmanship. Standouts include a Capucines Mini Blossom, with glass-like resin petals galvanized from perfume bottles and a logo reminiscent of the one Gehry created for the Fondation Louis Vuitton.
In addition to the bag collaboration, the booth will feature Gehry’s Les Extraits perfume packaging, as well as a selection of sketches and models, including early drawings for his “Celebrating Monogram” project. In addition, videos of Gehry’s most acclaimed collaborations with the French Maison will echo throughout the space.
Louis Vuitton’s Art Basel Miami Beach stand will be open to the public from December 8 to 10 in the West Lobby of the Miami Beach Convention Center. Check out the brand’s Frank Ghery handbags in the gallery above.
