Beenleigh Distillery has unveiled its Dragon Release Rum, a limited edition rum created from a selection of rums aged in casks for up to eight years, and a tribute to 2024, the Year of the Dragon.
The tasting notes for Dragon Release Rum describe a palate of rich, buttery and spiced wood notes that are complex and rounded, resulting in a smooth taste perfect for sipping neat.
The exclusive release comes on the heels of Beenleigh Distillery’s triumph at the Australian International Rum Awards, the prestigious competition focused exclusively on rum and cane spirits from around the world. Beenleigh’s Double Cask Rum scored an impressive 94 points, winning the trophy for Best Pot and Column Still Rum, in addition to a double gold medal.
“We are humbled to once again compete and be recognized on the global stage. This award at the Australian International Rum Awards underlines our commitment to excellence and innovation in the world of spirits,” says Chris Illman, Beenleigh Distillery Head of Sales & Marketing.
Aged for five years with a full-bodied flavor, Double Cask Rum is packed with spiced oak and burnt toffee notes that give way to honey, oak and lingering floral notes. Master-distilled in The Old Copper, a distinctive copper pot still known for its distinctive shape and style, it’s the only one of its kind in Australia.
Beenleigh is now looking to expand its offerings at the Queensland distillery with the upcoming launch of the Distillery Restaurant, a gastro-style culinary haven that promises an experience every rum lover will love.
