A Southern California woman has been arrested after she was allegedly found with stolen luxury handbags worth thousands of dollars.
The suspect has been identified as Karla Sunceri, 51, of Mission Hills, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Sunceri has been identified as the alleged operator of a crime ring involving high-end designer handbags, police said.
Police define a “fence” as “an individual or group who purchases stolen retail merchandise from those who commit smash-and-grab and organized retail theft and then sells the stolen merchandise at what appears to be a legitimate business, swap meet or other venue. online. ”
On Nov. 1, Sunceri was located and a search warrant was served at his home in the 15700 block of McKeever Street.
During the search, authorities discovered more than 50 stolen designer purses in the suspect’s home. Most of the stolen luxury handbags were taken during residential burglaries throughout Southern California, police said.
Photos of the seized handbags show a variety of styles and designer brands, including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Burberry and more. Purses include shoulder bags, crossbody bags, totes, clutches and more.
Two clear bags filled with $50 and $100 bills were also seized at the scene.
Sunceri was booked for receiving stolen property. She was booked into the Van Nuys jail and later released under a new zero-bail policy that eliminates cash bail for all but the most serious crimes.
The investigation is ongoing and authorities are trying to locate the owner of the wallet.
