Eni’s Plenitude, the low-carbon unit of the energy group, is making changes to its pricing and subscription packages for electric car charging in Italy. Plenitude generates renewable power, sells electricity and gas, and offers energy services to households and businesses.
Starting from November 1st, Plenitude will increase its lowest unit price for electricity for charging points at alternating current to 0.65 euros per kilowatt hour (kWh), up from 0.60 euros per kWh. The unit prices for all charging points at direct current will remain stable, ranging from 0.85 euros to 0.95 euros per kWh depending on the charging speed.
Additionally, Plenitude will replace old monthly subscriptions with new packages. The cheapest package will give subscribers a 20% discount on the unit price for electricity in exchange for a monthly fee of 9.90 euros. However, to benefit from the net saving after paying the monthly fee, customers will need to purchase at least 80 kWh of electricity per month.
Previously, the cheapest monthly subscription allowed customers to buy 50 kWh of electricity per month for a monthly payment of 20 euros, enabling them to save 33% on the unit power cost.
Furthermore, Plenitude plans to increase penalties for customers who leave their cars parked at charging points after completing charging. The specific details of the penalties were not mentioned in the source article.
These changes come as Plenitude’s electric mobility business, which offers power for electric cars, aims to overcome its previous adjusted loss of 24 million euros at the EBITDA level. Plenitude currently operates numerous charging points, with the majority located in Italy.
Overall, the adjustments in pricing and packages by Plenitude aim to facilitate a more competitive and efficient experience for electric car charging while aligning with their business goals.
