Skoda has officially unveiled the second-generation Kodiaq SUV, set to make its debut in India in 2024. With an evolutionary exterior design and a revolutionary cabin, the new Kodiaq aims to redefine the SUV segment with its cutting-edge features and powerful performance.
The latest iteration of the Skoda Kodiaq features subtle yet impactful changes to its design. It has grown in length by 61mm, now measuring 4.75 meters, while maintaining its wheelbase and width. The exterior upgrades include a redesigned grille, new matrix LED headlights, and evolved wheel designs. The sleeker profile is accentuated by the stylish rake of the D-pillar, and the rear of the SUV features C-shaped taillights, an LED light bar, and a prominent ridge above the rear number plate slot, giving it a refreshed and more dynamic appearance.
The Kodiaq shares its cabin with the new-generation Superb and adopts a philosophy of minimalism. It features a clean and uncluttered layout with a two-spoke steering wheel and dual digital displays on the dashboard. The infotainment system measures 13.0 inches, complemented by a 10-inch virtual cockpit behind the steering wheel. In India, the Kodiaq will be exclusively available in the seven-seat configuration and offers features like ambient lighting, climate control, wireless charging, and ample storage options. Skoda has also incorporated sustainable materials in the cabin, such as natural wool and polyester, showcasing their commitment to eco-friendly practices.
Powerful performance is a highlight of the new Kodiaq. While a plug-in hybrid variant, known as the Kodiaq iV, will be available in the future with an electric-only range of 100km, the initial offering for the Indian market will be equipped with a robust 2.0-litre TSI petrol engine producing 200bhp and 320Nm of torque. It will be paired with a seven-speed DCT and feature AWD as standard. The new Kodiaq utilizes the MQB-EVO platform, aligning it with the recently launched new-gen Volkswagen Tiguan.
The new-generation Kodiaq is set to arrive in India in 2024, demonstrating Skoda’s commitment to the Indian market. It will be assembled at Skoda’s Aurangabad plant alongside other models, including the Octavia, Superb, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Tiguan AllSpace. The Kodiaq aims to be a formidable competitor against SUVs like the Toyota Fortuner and MG Gloster, setting new standards for SUV enthusiasts.
