Audi has followed in the footsteps of Tesla and Volkswagen by introducing substantial price cuts for their electric vehicles. The latest model to receive a discount is the RS e-tron GT, which is now eligible for a $20,000 National Customer Credit in the United States. This incentive applies to customers who choose to finance their purchase through an external financial service provider. While the base price of the RS e-tron GT has been reduced from $145,395 to $125,395, it still remains significantly higher in comparison to the Tesla Model S Plaid, which starts at $80,890.
In addition to the RS e-tron GT, Audi is also offering discounts for other variants of the e-tron GT. For the 2023 model year, customers can enjoy a $12,500 discount on the base e-tron GT and a $10,000 discount on the RS e-tron GT. For the 2024 model year, the discounts are reduced to $5,000 for the base e-tron GT and $10,000 for the RS e-tron GT.
The RS e-tron GT is positioned as a rival to the Tesla Model S Plaid, boasting a similar level of performance. With its 637 horsepower, Quattro AWD system, and 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.1 seconds, the RS e-tron GT offers impressive performance. It is equipped with a 93 kWh lithium-ion battery, which provides a range of up to 400 kilometers on a single charge.
The introduction of price cuts by automakers like Tesla, Volkswagen, and Audi highlights the competitiveness of the electric vehicle market. As more manufacturers join the race, customers can expect to see more attractive pricing and incentives, making electric vehicles more accessible for a wider audience.
