Volkswagen Group’s platform siblings, the Taigun and the Virtus, have undergone a price hike of up to Rs 25,000. While we are not aware of the exact reason behind this price revision, the most probable reason could be rising input costs. For those not aware, the Taigun is offered in Comfortline, Highline, Topline, GT, GT Plus, GT Edge, and GT Plus Edge trim options.
The Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus 1.5 TSI DSG, which is the petrol variant in the Taigun lineup, is now costlier than before by Rs 25,000 and is offered at Rs 19.06 lakh, whereas the GT 1.5 TSI with DSG transmission costs Rs 16.99 lakh – reflecting an increase of Rs 19,900. All prices are ex-showroom. Additionally, the Indian arm of the German manufacturer has also raised the prices of the GT 1.5 TSI MT and the Highline 1.0 TSI MT variants by Rs 4,000. Alongside, it has also hiked the price of the Highline 1.0 TSI with automatic transmission, which is dearer by Rs 9,000.
Meanwhile, the prices of the Virtus have soared by up to Rs 4,000. Now, the Highline and GT variants can be had at an additional cost of Rs 4,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively, while prices of other variants have remained the same. Speaking of prices, the mid-size sedan starts at Rs 11.48 lakh and goes all the way to Rs 18.89 lakh (ex-showroom).
