India has one of the highest numbers of road accidents in the world, and last year alone, 1,55,622 people lost their lives on the roads. Overspeeding and traffic rule disobedience are major contributors to these accidents, but sometimes accidents occur due to the fault of others. A recent accident in Madhya Pradesh highlights this.
A family was traveling in a Mahindra XUV700 from Indore when they encountered a horrific accident. As they reached Ganpati Ghat, an uncontrolled truck crashed into the rear end of their SUV, pushing it into another truck ahead. The impact was devastating and caused severe damage to the XUV700.
Initial reports suggest that the accident occurred due to a brake failure in the truck that hit the SUV. Surprisingly, the truck that was initially hit by the XUV700 had also been involved in a crash earlier that day, also due to a brake failure. The video capturing the accident mentioned that the truck had collided with a tanker in the morning and had been stationary at the same spot since then.
Despite the extensive damage to the XUV700, all the passengers survived. The timely deployment of airbags protected them from the impact. The injured family members were rescued and taken to a nearby hospital.
Local bystanders played a crucial role in the rescue efforts, but the Congress MLA from Dharampuri, Madhya Pradesh, Panchilal Meda, also assisted in the rescue. He personally climbed onto the vehicle to help free the trapped family members.
The Mahindra XUV700 is equipped with various safety features, including multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, parking sensors, and a reverse camera. It also features an autonomous driving assistance system (ADAS), making it the first vehicle in its category to offer such technology.
Road accidents continue to be a major concern in India, and it is essential for drivers and authorities to prioritize safety measures and enforce traffic rules to prevent such tragic incidents.
