Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), one of the leading homegrown manufacturers, has ambitious plans when it comes to dominating the EV industry. At the recently held Futurescape event in South Africa, the firm revealed fresh details pertaining to its future Born electric vehicles, and the upcoming XUV.e8 will be among its first Born Electric models to arrive in the market. For those who don’t know, the XUV.e8 is essentially an electric version of the XUV700, which is currently on sale in India for an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 14.01 lakh. As the brand continues to test its two electrified SUV products ahead of their respective launches, the BE.05 and the XUV.e8, new spy images have surfaced providing insight into the XUV.e8’s styling cues as well as its interior layout. So without any further ado, let us take a closer look at the freshly emerged details regarding the XUV.e8.
Mahindra XUV.e8: Interior Layout
The Mahindra XUV.e8’s interior can also be seen in recent spy photos, which indicate that it will have more amenities and modifications than the XUV700’s cabin. Similar to the hyperscreen used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Mercedes-Benz electric cars, the new Mahindra XUV.e8’s dashboard will have three screens.
A new two-spoke steering wheel that has a Gloss Black finish and resembles the one on the recently released Tata Nexon is also available. The lower centre console, which has touch-sensitive buttons for climate control and other features, also sports a Gloss Black finish, which is again, one of the major interior improvements that are visible in the spy shots. The Mahindra XUV.e8 has a typical automatic gear knob for drive selector modes and another rounded knob for adjusting drive modes, both of which have the same appearance as the lower centre console of the XUV700.
Mahindra XUV.e8: Exterior Design Details
The test mule spotted during trial runs recently was completely camouflaged. Although it is still not ready for production, the model this time around appeared to be better developed as compared to the last time. The exterior parts of the SUV like bonnet, door panels, and fenders are all taken from the XUV700 when it comes to this all-electric offering that is still under development. Meanwhile, the Mahindra XUV.e8 is anticipated to have different all-LED headlamps, boot lid, and tail lamps from the XUV700, giving it a more distinctive appearance.
The 18-inch alloy wheels’ design will also probably differ from that of the XUV700. Additionally, the front fascia will likely have a full-length LED DRL bar connecting the headlamps.
The new XUV.e8 will have flush door handles and curved-looking LED tail lamps, similar to the Mahindra XUV700, however, there may be a connecting LED bar between the tail lamps. The new Mahindra XUV.e8 will have copper accents all over its body, similar to the XUV400, to set it apart from its petrol-fuelled rival.
