Making his second straight start at right back as part of a makeshift New England Revolution backline, Matt Polster earned a spot on the MLS Team of the Matchday presented by Audi for his efforts in helping the Revs to a clean sheet and 1-0 win over the New York Red Bulls on Wednesday night at Gillette Stadium.
Polster, who had made 95 appearances for the Revs in central midfield prior to his recent turn at right back, contributed a team-leading three tackles won and added three key passes while winning 75 percent of his duels against the Red Bulls. The 30-year-old also narrowly missed scoring his third goal of the season, smashing a first-half effort off the crossbar.
Polster and the Revs continue their two-game homestand on Saturday night when they’ll welcome Austin FC to Gillette Stadium for the first-ever meeting between the sides. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET with coverage in English and Spanish on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while fans can listen to the local radio call on 98.5 The Sports Hub (English) and 1260 AM Nossa Radio (Portuguese).
