The construction endeavor surrounding the impressive 72-meter superyacht, known as “Moonflower 72,” continues to unfurl its grand narrative as the hull and superstructure seamlessly meld at Wider’s distinguished Superyacht Hub situated in Porto Marghera, Venice.
Having inked its formal inception in January 2022, Moonflower 72 stands as the inaugural fully customized new-build endeavor following Wider’s revitalization under the ownership of W-Fin Sarl, the parent company vested with 100 percent equity of Wider. Notably, the orchestration of this masterpiece has been entrusted entirely to Nauta Yachts. Responsible for the yacht‘s interior and exterior design, as well as the naval architecture, Nauta Yachts has embarked on an endeavor of true distinction.
Marcello Maggi, a prominent voice from Wider Yachts, illuminated the journey of Moonflower 72, “The construction of Moonflower 72 is well underway at our Superyacht Hub dedicated exclusively to full-custom projects. We specifically chose Venice due to its strategic position and the professionalism of the various workers involved. In addition, the harmony between Wider and Nauta Design means that the work is continuing in full compliance with the production plan.”
The yacht’s construction now gracefully transitions to the phase of machinery outfitting. A milestone to anticipate is the installation of the main engines during the forthcoming summer months. Concurrently, meticulous piping on the lower decks advances diligently. The interior layout, along with the comprehensive outfitting, remains steadfastly aligned with the established timeline.
Radiating a blend of modernity and timelessness, Moonflower’s design engenders equilibrium through the fusion of style and comfort, materializing in elegantly sculpted lines that maintain a harmonious synergy between interior and exterior. Mario Pedol, the co-founder of Nauta Design in Milan, encapsulates this harmony succinctly, stating, “Moonflower’s design is modern yet timeless and based on the balanced combination of style and comfort with pure, elegant lines and a harmonious connection between exterior and interior, making for a very close relationship with nature and the surrounding marine environment.”
A nod to environmental consciousness is embraced by Moonflower 72, featuring cutting-edge hybrid propulsion systems and powered by twin variable-speed generators, each boasting 1,860kW. The fruition of this design element translates into the ability to generate energy during moments of minimal consumption, thus curbing CO2 emissions by approximately 20 percent.
Moreover, the yacht’s engines utilize HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and methanol, while heat released by the electric propulsion system’s dissipation is channeled into recycling for onboard hot water. Operational efficiency reigns supreme, as every aspect of the yacht’s amenities has been meticulously optimized.
Embarking on a resolute trajectory, the ongoing construction efforts surrounding Moonflower 72 project a targeted delivery milestone set for the year 2025, alluding to a triumphant culmination in the realm of nautical artistry.
