On July 31, local fashion designers Chadwick Williams and Dyshawn Shephard are set to hit the runway for their annual fashion show. For duo—rising seniors at Callaway High School —fashion has always been a passion for them. “We started making clothes in middle school, and love for what we were doing kept growing as entered high school,” Williams said. “We came together our junior year and said we’re going to create a brand together and that’s what we did — Rager Intergalactic.”
The fashion show will be held at Del’avant at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 and can be brought online at eventbrite.com. Shephard said the first time they tried to hold a show it was shaky. “Rager Day went well but saw medium success. However, with Rager University, I want to start with strong and finish strong,” Shephard said. “Over the course of this summer, working at the school, meeting new people, and gaining all these connections, I’m proud that we were able to put something together like this. Seeing people wanting to help us and put our dreams into reality means a lot.”
Shephard said they will have 15 models, showing off pieces from the three of their labels, Rager University, Punk by Rager and Rager Intergalactic. “I would describe our clothes as art with a mind of its own. Each piece of clothing that we make has its own personality,” Shephard said. “After the show, I hope that we’ve shown our community just who Rager Intergalactic is. We are creative. We put out our designs — we’re not ripping somebody off or stealing images. We are just living our dreams and putting our spin on everything.” The duo designs hoodies, long sleeve shirts, cardigans, letterman jackets and more.
Williams said to see their designs come to life has been surreal. “To see our dream come to life has been amazing. From starting with an idea to building a brand and going through everything we had to get here has been a lot of hard work but rewarding,” Williams said. “To see the dream come to fruition is a blessing, and I can’t wait to show everyone what we’ve been working on.”
